Army commander looks back fondly on childhood in Detroit Lakes

From the time he was a young boy growing up in Detroit Lakes, Bill Ostlund says, “I always thought I would go into the military.” Growing up during the Vietnam War era, reading all the books and newspaper articles, and hearing all the stories from his dad and grandfather and uncles who were in the service, Ostlund says, “I felt that’s what I needed to do to grow up a bit.”
