A trip to Mille Lacs can produce some nice walleye

Published 06/22/2012, DL-Online

I just returned from five days at Mille Lacs Lake. What a gem of a walleye lake that is only a little more than two hours from us. The bite this year has been very good for bigger fish. The strong year class is the 20-22” fish with a supporting cast of 24-27” fish. The biggest of the trip was a 29”er and one a little over 28 inches. The boat also released three 27-inch fish and many 25-26-inch fish. It was difficult to get “eaters.” On Mille Lacs you can keep 4 walleyes between 14-17 inches.
