Extremes make gridlock inevitable

A couple weeks ago, Gov. Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Legislature made a budget deal which, in essence, leaves it up to the voters in 2012 to determine the course of Minnesota’s future. It appears the federal government has done the same. The legislation that solves the federal debt crisis pairs an increase in the government’s borrowing cap with promises of more than $2 trillion of budget cuts over the upcoming decade.
