ECONOMY: Dour outlook for Midwest; N.D. somewhat insulated

OMAHA, Neb. — A survey of Midwest and Plains supply managers from nine states suggests they are dour about the regional economy. In the report on the Mid-America Business Conditions survey issued Monday, the overall economic index plummeted to 39.9 in October from 49.6 in September and 51.4 in August.Word count: 369
