Chesney wins 4th straight entertainer of year award; list of award winners

Published 05/18/2008, Associated Press and Academy ol Country Music

LAS VEGAS - Kenny Chesney is country music's entertainer of the year for a fourth year in a row. Chesney took top honors at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday. With the win, he ties Garth Brooks and trails only Alabama, which won five in a row. Fans' votes determined the award for the first time this year. All other categories are decided by ACM members. "This one is really extra special because long before I had a hit record the fans always came to my show, and I want to thank you guys for voting and being there for me," he said. The singer also thanked his parents "for having sex so many years ago, and being responsible for me being up here tonight." Chesney was the leading nominee with 11, and ended up winning two.
