Recipes for the following good cookies came from a cookbook by the Ladies Aid of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Fairmont, Minn., published in 1948. The “Cook Book Committee” began the book with this cute little limerick that reminds modern “housewives” of how it used to be in Grandma's day:
