Walleye action fluctuates with the weather, according to Devils Lake fishing guide Jason Mitchell. When the weather’s nice, fishing is incredible, Mitchell said, with the best action during the late afternoon and evening hours. Expect a mix of 15- to 18-inch “eater” walleyes, along with the occasional big fish. Pike fishing has been “absolutely nuts,” Mitchell said, and 100-fish days aren’t out of the question.
