N.D. produced record 153 million barrels of oil in 2011

North Dakota produced a record 152.9 million barrels of crude in 2011, up more than 35 percent from the previous record of 113 million set a year earlier, state officials said today. The state is poised to best, within months, California and Alaska, which are the nation's third and second oil-producing states, respectively, behind Texas. Daily production was up to a record 534,000 barrels per day in December.
