U.S. Senate hopeful Potter: Progressive income tax, estate tax needed to deal with income gap

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tom Potter said Thursday that he grew up in a time when Americans could climb the economic ladder with enough hard work and common sense. But that has changed considerably in the past few decades, he told the Herald’s editorial board, which is what prompted him to enter North Dakota’s U.S. Senate race to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad.
