N.D., Minn. officials react to GOP presidential hopefuls’ debate call Monday to end federal sugar subsidies
Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney called for the end of federal sugar subsidies during Monday’s Republican presidential debate in Florida, but Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said Tuesday that the comments show the candidates are spreading “misinformation” about a vital program that does not subsidize the sugar industry.
