WEATHER: Extreme cold warning starts 9 a.m. Wednesday in GF County, 6 p.m. in Polk County

Published 01/18/2012, Grand Forks Herald

Bitter cold is near, though official extreme cold warnings from the National Weather Service start at several different times -- 9 this morning in Grand Forks, Grand Forks County and some northern Red River Valley counties, for example; and 6 tonight across the river in East Grand Forks, Polk County. The winds will make bitter feel brutal. Plus, light snow is falling largely north of U.S. Highway 2, with as much as an inch possible by sunrise today. A total of one to three inches expected when it's all over Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
