FACES: Russ Severson retires from Minnesota Extension Service

Russ Severson’s first job was pulling cockleburs out of soybean and corn out of farmers’ fields in southern Minnesota. His last job before he retired this past week involved conducting research to improve the soybean and corn yields of farmers in northern Minnesota. The Walnut Grove, Minn., native thought he left those row crops behind when he moved to Crookston 38 years ago to work for the Minnesota Extension Service, he said.
