Thirty years ago, a young woman from Tennessee wrote to North Dakota Gov. Allen Olson, expressing doubt that North Dakota even existed. Olson offered the best proof he could, inviting Debra Hollingsworth, 21, to visit. She did, and the story of Debra’s North Dakota adventure made newspapers all over the country.
