ALWAYS IN SEASON: Local eagle meets sad end, but larger story more positive

The eagle’s death is a sad outcome, but the larger story about bald eagles is much more upbeat. The number of breeding eagles increased tenfold in the 1990s; in 2007, the eagle was removed from the government’s endangered species list and by 2010 eagles had become regular nesters in the Red River Valley.
