Foley to be first Minnesota city to go to 24-hour private security instead of law enforcement

Foley has contracted since 2003 with the Benton County Sheriff's Office to have three deputies patrol the city, providing coverage for 17.1 hours a day. This year, the city paid $24,694 a month for the contract. But after cuts to Local Government Aid and uncertainty about future cuts, the Foley City Council started looking at options to save money on policing.Word count: 881
