MARILYN HAGERTY: When all else fails, amateur radio is still around

“Be prepared and hope you never have to use it.” That, says Gerry Nies, is the national slogan of amateur radio. He’s a member of the Forx Amateur Radio Club that again will be taking part in a field day Saturday. Nies is one of 50 to 60 “hams” who meet once a month — at 7:30 p.m. on the last Tuesday in Altru.
