RYAN BAKKEN: Why run a marathon?

Distance running is on my brain because of conversations with several people who participated in Saturday’s Fargo Marathon. The event attracted 18,175 participants for distances ranging from 3.1 miles to 26 miles and 385 yards, the marathon distance. One participant suggested that I join a relay team that splits the distance. Hey, good idea. That would work if four others pledged to run 6.5 miles each. I could handle the final 385 yards
