NOT JUST BUSINESS: Post Offices vital link for small North Dakota towns

Nekoma, N.D., is one of 22 identified small-town post offices in northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota — and 220 in the Dakotas, Montana and northwestern Minnesota — to be part of a “discontinuation study.” They’re among 47 that are operating without permanent full-time postmasters. At least partly for that reason, the U.S. Postal Service is trying to decide whether to close some or all of them.
