WEATHER: Strong winds likely to affect floodwaters, dikes, roads

Strong, sustained southeasterly winds - 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph by Thursday afternoon - are likely to whip up some one- to two-foot waves on swollen riveres and other floodwaters Thursday and Thursday night, and that could cause erosion to clay dikes, sandbags and roadbeds, throw water onto roadways and accelerate road washouts, the National Weather Service says.Word count: 608
