Twenty-nine percent (or roughly $328 million) of that $1.1 billion per year comes from the state general fund — in other words, tax dollars. The remaining 71 percent comes from campus-generated sources, such as grants and contracts (17 percent); tuition (20 percent); student fees, food services, housing and other ancillaries (34 percent).
