WEATHER: Wind chill advisory until noon for much of Red River Valley

Wind chills to 40 below prompt advisory for region in a.m.; Grand Forks dips to -30 overnight; two northern Minnesota towns hit -46
Extremely cold temperatures had much of northwest Minnesota in a deep freeze this morning, but an extreme cold warning expired at 9 a.m. Additionally, with winds slowly increasing, the entire region will be subject to hazardous wind chills from 30 below to 40 below at some time this morning, the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks said. Roads could be slippery, with up to an inch of snow expected in parts of the region today, including Grand Forks.
