Joe Solmon of Detroit Lakes, Minn., let a tall oak stump in his backyard dry out for three years so the wood wouldn’t split, then called Floodwood, Minn., chainsaw artist Troy Conlon and inquired about his idea of having Conlon carve an eagle.
