Swap 'til you drop

Recently, on Facebook, a friend suggested that since there's already enough stuff in the world companies should just stop manufacturing things and everybody should trade what they already have. There is something to be said for the fact we all have enough stuff when you look at the tons of solid waste we dispose of every day. And, in fact, a key point to making smart consumer choices is to influence the way items are manufactured, encouraging cleaner production processes and the use of more recyclable (not to mention least-toxic) materials.
