The North Dakota National Guard saluted its own veterans of Guadalcanal in the largest parade ever held at Camp Grafton, the Guard's training camp south of Devils Lake. Some 3,500 troops from the North Dakota's Army National Guard and Air National Guard stood in formation in front of a reviewing stand where about 300 Guadalcanal veterans from North Dakota's old 164th Infantry Regiment were the guests of honor.
