N.D. lawmaker says he’s innocent of assault, won’t quit his seat

A North Dakota legislator insisted Friday he did not punch his estranged wife, almost a year after he pleaded guilty to a separate charge that he shoved her to the pavement in a parking lot. Rep. Dave Weiler, R-Bismarck, pleaded not guilty Friday to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault, a day after police arrested him for allegedly striking Nicole Weiler in the face at her south Bismarck home.
