Conrad appointed to Obama's fiscal commission

In a statement, Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said today that he was "honored" by the decision and "humbled" by the work ahead. “We have a tremendous responsibility to set aside partisan differences and come up with a bipartisan plan that puts the nation back on a sound fiscal course,” he said. “But we have no time to waste. We need to begin making the tough choices now so that policies can be phased in once the economy has recovered.”Word count: 349
