'I feel grief': Earthquake stirs emotions of local former aid workers

The news came to Janette Yaeger in a phone call from her son, Charles, who knew it would trouble her. There’s been an earthquake, he told her. In Haiti. It looks bad. Janette Yaeger, 79, is a retired public health nurse living in Grand Forks. She contributed to church mission work much of her life, and she has known poverty first-hand, including an 11-year stint on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
