It was different then, but then again, it was a different world. Seventy years ago, Buick was among the most revered brands. Actors John Garfield and Bette Davis drove them; the Vatican had one for the pope; even royalty sought out the car, not to mention competitors seeking to copy the car's cutting-edge technology. The imagery lingered into the 1970s before General Motors slowly, inexorably steered itself into irrelevance.
