ANN BAILEY: Saying good-bye to summer

I have mixed emotions about summer ending. On one hand, I liked having the children at home, being relatively free of schedules and completely liberated from homework. On the other, I also appreciate the comfort of having a routine, enjoy watching my sons play football and take pleasure in watching Ellen develop the reading skills she learned in kindergarten. This year my son, Brendan, a seventh-grader, is playing in a junior high football game at least one evening each week and, Thomas, a fifth-grader, is playing games on the weekends. My husband, Brian, Ellen and I are in the cheering section.
