IN THE MAIL: Change degrades water quality in the Sheyenne

Some people still don’t know that in July, the North Dakota Department of Health changed the permit to drain from Devils Lake into the Sheyenne River. The department increased the allowable sulfate level in the river to 750 milligrams per liter from 450 mg/L so that the State Water Commission could pump 100 cubic feet per second all the time.
