Running for human rights

Fifteen First Nation athletes from Buffalo Point in southern Manitoba ran down Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 2 on Friday, carrying a banner with the words “Buffalo Point First Nation Youth Walk for Democracy.” They were part of the Run for Human Rights, which will cover almost 2,000 miles before reaching Washington, D.C., on Oct. 7. The purpose of the run is to raise awareness of indigenous issues in Canada.
