AUTO Q AND A: Tracking down an EVAP leak

Published 06/19/2009, McClatchy-Tribune News Service

Q: Help! My car has a problem that causes the check engine light to be on all the time. My repair shop said it's caused by a leak somewhere around the fuel tank and they can't seem to find it. They replaced the gas cap and a valve of some kind but the problem continues. I've been told it may be something only the dealer can fix, but they're a considerable distance from where I live. Do you know how this can be fixed, or can I just live with it as is?
