Fargo plans to pay its share of flood protection with a sales tax increase
Their idea is to pass a half-cent sales tax that would raise $200 million over 20 years for the city’s share. I have no statistics as proof, but I’m guessing at least two-thirds of the sales taxes paid in Fargo are from non-residents. So, citizens/shoppers from Thompson, N.D. — to pick a town name randomly out of a hat — will be contributing.
