N.D. LEGISLATURE: House supports accident blood test bill

House members are asking the Senate to restore and beef up a prosecution-oriented bill inspired by a 2006 fatal accident in Ransom County that killed a 13-year-old boy. Rep. Ed Gruchalla, D-Fargo, prime sponsor of House Bill 1219, asked the Senate Transportation Committee Friday to amend the bill to require law enforcement officers to get a blood test of a surviving driver involved in a fatal crash to determine the presence of drugs or alcohol.
