APPRECIATION: Minnesota writer Bill Holm was a presence

There have been a few great Minnesota writers whose physical stature matched their intellectual stature. Bill Holm was one of those. He was something like a grain elevator breaking up the prairie landscape — imposing, but not entirely foreign, booming out an everyday flat Minnesota voice with an irreverent edge. It was a colloquial voice spoken in perfect, eloquent English.Word count: 712
