Nearly 5 million are getting unemployment benefits; Inflation rate at wholesale level jumps

The number of unemployed workers receiving unemployment benefits jumped to an all-time high near 5 million, while new jobless claims remain well above 600,000. The government also announced that inflation at the wholesale level surged unexpectedly in January, reflecting sharply higher prices for gasoline and other energy products.Word count: 1303
