Minnesota slated to get $477 million

The federal transportation money won’t directly offset any of the state’s $4.8 billion budget shortfall because the state funds road and bridge projects largely through gasoline taxes, motor vehicle sales taxes and vehicle registration fees rather than out of the general fund. But those revenues are down due to the economic slump, and the federal money will help make up for that.Word count: 507
