Some are from criminals seeking mercy. Some are from victims seeking justice. Some are from family members seeking one or the other. All of them bring an element of humanity into the courts — a sometimes emotional and revealing glimpse into the people in the criminal justice system. They’re letters to judges, and though they’re rarely seen by the public, they’re a regular part of life in the courts.
