Snow to be followed by dangerous cold

Published 02/01/2011, The Daily Republic

Rising winds and plunging temperatures are expected to compound weather-related problems today.
Temperatures were expected to fall four degrees below zero in Mitchell by this morning and as low as 10 degrees below zero in Huron and points farther north. Winds around 20 mph are expected today with gusts up to 30 mph, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Masters, accompanied by visibility-reducing blowing snow and wind-chill factors reaching 26 degrees below zero. There’s a chance of minimal accumulation of new snow, probably less than an inch.
