Editorial: Real issue obscured in lake dispute

It’s unfortunate that an important debate about Lake Mitchell has devolved into a squabble. We’re talking about the issue Mitchell voters will decide Nov. 2. Petitioners put a question on the ballot asking voters to place park designations on two pieces of city-owned land near the lake — the nearly 10-acre “wooded lot” along North Harmon Drive, and a 55-acre parcel near the lake’s west end and south shore — along with, as the petitions put it, “all city owned property comprising or abutting the shoreline of Lake Mitchell.”Word count: 552
