Area mom goes to bat against breast cancer

TRIPP — Shelly Clayton has been rooting for the Chicago Cubs all her life.
Now the 28-year-old mom, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, is finding out what it’s like to have fans of her own.
Since Clayton was diagnosed in February, she’s had her own cheering squad of family, friends and complete strangers, many of whom want nothing more than to see Clayton serve as the honorary bat girl for her favorite baseball team on Mother’s Day.
