“Over time, fire deaths and injuries have been reduced through fire-prevention education, fire-resistant materials, improved firefighter equipment and the installation of smoke detectors. Even with these improvements there are still far too many fire deaths, and our fire loss is too high. In buildings where fire sprinklers are required, they have proven to be the most effective tool in protecting life and property."
