Reader’s view: Editor’s column on MLK sign only inflamed cyberbullying

Published 02/02/2014, Duluth News Tribune

Regarding Editor Robin Washington’s column about a storefront sign that offended some people, I think the teachable moment should’ve come when George Ellsworth saw the sign and found it to be offensive. At that moment, he could have immediately gone into the store to talk with owner Rachel Mock about his concerns (“A teachable moment on Martin Luther King Day,” Jan. 22). A civil conversation between them could’ve provided a teachable moment for both and perhaps a mutually agreeable solution.
