Reader’s view: If streetlights go out, give someone a call

Published 10/27/2013, Duluth News Tribune

This is in response to the letter from the former city councilor who complained about paying for streetlights in Duluth that aren’t turned on (Readers’ Views: “We pay for streetlights, so please turn them on,” Oct. 22). I don’t like paying for streetlights that aren’t working, either. As soon as I see a streetlight starting to fail, I call it in right away. I was told by the city that the rule of thumb is to call the city if the light is on a metal pole, and call Minnesota Power if the light is on a wood pole. In either case, a crew has been promptly and cheerfully dispatched to repair the light.
