Reader’s view: Stauber knows how to save taxpayers money

For many years Douglas County operated its own ambulance service. I was the director when Jim Stauber, operations manager for Gold Cross Duluth, proposed consolidating services. At first I thought his idea was nonsense, but I soon became a believer in this man. His proposal was to keep all county workers employed, reduce the county tax burden for the ambulance service from $600,000 per year to $0, and to provide as good or better service.Word count: 168
