Local view: The rich lend support to GOP’s shutdown

Republican leaders had enough support from wealthy supporters to shut down the federal government. Most of us feel the U.S. government should be led by people who believe in America’s potential, not by those who serve crony capitalism. Republicans no longer seems to believe in representation. They seem committed to a different form of government. Corporate lobbyists would like the Tea Party to take over leadership of the GOP, it seems — and then the federal government. Grover Norquist, GOP lobbyist with Americans for Tax Reform, has stated he would like to drown the U.S. government.
