Reader's view: Diversion of methadone is a misguided effort

State Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson’s summary of the administration’s substance-use strategy in the March 12 News Tribune (Commissioner’s View: “Take action on methadone, other drugs”) suggested a major problem with the diversion of methadone from methadone-maintenance programs, increasing the risk of overdose by people not in the program.
