Red Cliff forced to dump recovered explosives back into Lake Superior

The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa did not find hazardous chemicals in the barrels of military waste its crews recovered but did find lots of tiny explosives it could not get permission to bring ashore -- so crews were forced to dump them back in the lake for later retrieval.
