Reader’s view: Pope coverage should include abuse history

So the Rev. Richard Kunst would like more coverage of the pope and his pending retirement, as the Duluth priest argued in his Feb. 20 column in the News Tribune, “Let’s hear more of pope’s retirement.” That’s fine, but shouldn’t that coverage include disclosure of the man’s collusion in covering up reports of child abuse that were sent to his office when he wore a red hat? Those abuses included attacks on children in a Wisconsin school for the deaf who could not even speak.Word count: 209
