Northland parish prepares for first Christmas gathering since death of longtime pastor

The people of Pine Hill Lutheran Church will gather for their Christmas Eve service as always, to the ringing of the bell that used to be part of a locomotive steam engine. But something will be missing. For the first time in 48 Christmases, the person standing in front won’t be Pastor Daryl O. Carlson.
